These platforms offered traditional casino games and sports betting using virtual coins redeemable for cash and prizes, bypassing state regulations and consumer protections. Attorney General James emphasized the dangers of these unregulated operations, citing risks of financial ruin and rigged games due to a lack of oversight. As a direct result of this action, all 26 platforms have ceased the sale of sweepstakes coins in New York.
